About us

The microbiology department of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences is one of the oldest educational departments of this university. This group was formed in 1328 by the efforts of Dr. Mohammad Mir Damadi and other professors in the Faculty of Medicine. Further, with the equipping and development of the laboratories of Imam Reza (a.s.) and Qaim (a.s.) hospitals, the activity of the microbiology department as a clinical department was also developed in these two hospitals, and with the expansion of research and the importance of forming a separate center to conduct research in In the field of microbiology, this group decided to transfer most of its research activities to the microbiology and virology research center located in Bo Ali Research Institute from 2015. In 2018, after several training courses for specialized assistants, the first PhD course was launched with the admission of 7 students.
